【ニューヨーク=吉田圭織】米国の新型コロナウイルスによる新規の死者数が2日、4月のピークを上回り過去最多になった。入院患者数も最多を更新し続けている。医療現場では応援看護師を送り込んで対応を急ぐが、全国的な感染拡大で人材不足が問題となり始めている。米ジョンズ・ホプキンス大の調べによると、米東部時間3日午後3時（日本時間4日午前5時）時点の米国の感染者数は1401万人、死者数は27万4千人だった。
